Therapeutic Touch Therapeutic Touch (TT), defined by the Nurse Healers-Professional Associates International, Inc. (NH-PAI), is a contemporary interpretation of several ancient healing practices and is an intentionally directed process of energy exchange during which the practitioner uses the hands as a focus to facilitate healing.
Nursing research supports that Therapeutic Touch elicits a profound relaxation response; helps to alleviate and, frequently, to eradicate pain; accelerates the healing process; increases immune system functions; and decreases nausea, to name a few. TT is taught in over 80 countries and is in hospitals around the world.
As a Therapeutic Touch Practitioner and Teacher since 1987, I have worked with clients dealing with fibromyalgia, cancer, burns, chronic pain, surgery recovery, and other issues. I have studied with TT co-founders, Dolores Krieger, Ph.D., R.N. and Dora Kunz. Testimonials: “As Dorothy’s children, growing up with Therapeutic Touch made us both open-minded and healthy individuals. As children we were very skeptical of this healing technique, but were soon won over when we saw and felt the results. Whether it is a headache or surgery, Therapeutic Touch increases healing time while reducing stress. If one is open-minded and has patience, a lot will be gained with Therapeutic Touch. Twenty years on, we are still asking our mother for treatments for ourselves as well as for our children.” Will and Kate, my children “Prior to my face lift, the surgeon warned me I would bruise from my neck to my waist. Six days after the surgery, the doctor couldn’t believe the only bruise I had was the size of a silver dollar below my collar bone! He was also amazed at how quickly I healed. He has never seen anything like it. I was thrilled! I told him he needed to have a Therapeutic Touch Practitioner on staff.” Joan, Cooperate Buyer “While installing a light fixture for Dorothy, the fixture fell on my face and sliced my nose open. Dorothy took me to the emergency room and performed Therapeutic Touch on me there and then back at her house several times. I was skeptical but willing to give it a try. Well, I became a believer! Everything she told me about Therapeutic Touch is true. I had absolutely no swelling on my nose or around my eyes, and I was expecting two black eyes. There was no pain from the injury or from the stitches, and there was never even a scar from the stitches! You would never know I had had my nose sliced open. I could not believe it! I am now a big supporter of Therapeutic Touch!” Mark, Contractor “Therapeutic Touch got rid of the bursitis pain in my hip that I have had for years! Unbelievable! Thank you, Dorothy!” Charles, Aircraft Engineer “Anyone facing major surgery should have their own personal Therapeutic Touch Practitioner. After my breast reduction, Therapeutic Touch was a big help in reducing the pain. I was amazed at how much it reduced my pain and discomfort. When the doctor took off the bandages five days after the surgery he said he had never seen anyone heal that quickly. I was thrilled! I could not have had this kind of an operation if it weren’t for Therapeutic Touch. It is awesome!” Kate, Interior Designer “I received many hours of Therapeutic Touch from Dorothy while in labor with my twins. Having had two children previously I knew what to expect and I was scared about delivering twins, so I asked Dorothy to do Therapeutic Touch during labor. I got permission from the doctor and medical staff ahead of time. I was amazed and thrilled how things turned out. My labor pain was not near as painful as with my two other children. It was much more manageable. The actually delivery was incredible in that I was so relaxed I didn’t even realize my first twin had been born until the doctor told me! The doctor was impressed and said it was the easiest delivery of twins he had ever experienced. I did not need an episiotomy, as I had the first two times, and there was very little bleeding. The nurses couldn’t get over how relaxed both the babies were. They both were happy and very content. I will forever been in Dorothy’s debt for her gift of Therapeutic Touch in helping me bring my beautiful twin girls into the world.” Tina, Elementary School Teacher |
